1. What this notice covers
CardTriage is published by Will Burrard-Lucas and presented as a FrontierTwo tool. Will Burrard-Lucas is responsible for personal information received through CardTriage support and its website (the data controller). In this notice, “we” refers to the publisher.
This notice distinguishes the macOS app’s local processing from information handled when you visit cardtriage.com, contact CardTriage support through FrontierTwo, or use an Apple service.
The current app has no in-app account system, advertising, analytics or tracking. It does not operate a cloud library or a media-upload service.
2. Your media and folder permissions
CardTriage reads files in the source and archive folders you select so it can compare file contents and identify exact matches. Scanning does not move files. Copying, moving and empty-folder cleanup happen only when you choose and confirm those operations.
The app uses the macOS App Sandbox and stores permission bookmarks for selected folders. This allows it to use those folders again, including after relaunch and when you return to a previous session.
Photos, videos, audio, sidecars and file contents processed by the app are not sent to the developer. Your own storage services may behave differently: for example, macOS or a cloud-storage provider may download an online-only file or sync a file copied into a cloud-backed folder. Those services are controlled by their providers and your settings.
3. Information stored locally
CardTriage keeps working records on your Mac so it can remember access, reuse completed work and explain or undo a session.
| Local record | Why it is kept |
|---|---|
| Folder-access bookmarks | Remember the folders you selected and the permissions needed to use them. |
| File information and checksums | Identify exact matches and reuse completed checksum calculations when appropriate. |
| Session journals and reports | Record findings, file operations, errors and information needed for Undo. |
| Cleanup records | Record empty-folder cleanup and any Finder metadata preserved by the optional cleanup setting. |
These records can contain filenames, folder paths, sizes, timestamps, checksums and operation details. They are stored in the app’s local container. Reports you export are stored where you choose.
Some recovery material is stored outside the app container. Copy Undo retains copied files in a hidden recovery folder at the destination. Interrupted operations can leave incomplete output near the intended destination or restoration location. Optional cleanup of folders containing only Finder metadata preserves that metadata in a hidden folder under the source. Activity identifies recovery locations where available.
4. Retention and removal
The app does not automatically delete its local records after a set period. Session records and recovery files can remain until you remove them.
Removing a journal, changing files or deleting recovery material can prevent Undo. Keep an independent backup and inspect recovery locations before removing anything. If you are unsure what can be removed safely, contact CardTriage support.
Uninstalling the app does not guarantee removal of its container, exported reports, organised files or recovery folders. We cannot remotely access or delete files that remain only on your Mac or selected storage.
5. Website, support and feedback
Support and privacy enquiries go through the CardTriage feedback form. Using that form is separate from running the app: information you submit leaves your device and is sent to the support service. Contacting support is optional and is not required to use the app.
The form receives your optional name, email, message and optional technical details, together with the referring page, submission time and browser user-agent. A request may include app and macOS versions, error text, and any reports or screenshots you choose to share during correspondence. Reports and screenshots can reveal personal filenames and paths. Review and redact them before sharing; do not send passwords, credentials or original media unless specifically needed and agreed.
We use this information to answer enquiries, investigate problems and keep relevant support history for follow-up. Our lawful basis for that processing is our legitimate interest in providing and improving support. We also rely on legitimate interests to operate and protect the website and prevent abuse, and on legal obligations where processing is required by law. Support correspondence is not used for advertising.
Support retention
Support messages are normally kept in our support inbox after an enquiry is resolved, so we can refer back to previous correspondence and provide follow-up support. There is no fixed automatic deletion schedule. You can request deletion through the feedback form; we will delete the correspondence unless there is a legal requirement or another lawful reason to retain it, which we will explain.
Service providers and international processing
Cloudflare provides website delivery, security and the feedback form’s Turnstile abuse-prevention check. This involves processing technical information such as IP addresses, request information and browser/device signals. Messages are delivered through Postmark to our Help Scout support inbox. The CardTriage marketing site has no advertising or analytics scripts and no form; the feedback form is hosted on FrontierTwo.
These providers may process website or support information outside the UK, including in the United States. Their published privacy and data-processing terms describe their retention practices and applicable international-transfer safeguards, including the Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where applicable. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Postmark’s privacy policy, Postmark’s data-processing terms and Help Scout’s data-processing terms. You can also use our feedback form to ask about these arrangements.
6. Apple services
App Store distribution, TestFlight, payments and Apple diagnostics are separate Apple services. Depending on your settings and the services you use, Apple may make feedback or diagnostics available to the developer. CardTriage’s lack of in-app analytics is not a claim that Apple collects no information.
See Apple’s privacy information for its handling of that information.
7. Your choices and privacy requests
You choose which folders to make available to CardTriage, which operations to apply and whether to export or share a report. The developer does not receive your local media or working records merely because you use the app.
For information you have sent through support, you can use the feedback form to ask what is held, request correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Depending on your location and the circumstances, other rights may apply, including restrictions on or objections to processing and data portability. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
If applicable, you may also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data-protection authority.
